VILLAHandover Mar 2031
Nakheel (Arabic for 'palm tree') is a Dubai master developer behind the Palm Jumeirah, the artificial archipelago whose construction began in 2001. Its portfolio also includes Jumeirah Village Circle, Jumeirah Islands, Ibn Battuta Mall and Nakheel Mall.
Nakheel was long a subsidiary of Dubai World and went through a major debt restructuring after the 2009 debt crisis, with its ownership later moving to the Government of Dubai. From 2022 it moved ahead with Palm Jebel Ali and Dubai Islands (formerly Deira Islands). In March 2024 Nakheel and Meydan were merged into Dubai Holding by decree of the Ruler of Dubai.
